SUSTAINING CONSERVATION IMPERATIVES & MISPLACED HOSPITALITY
by Lory Tan
WWF’s current focus in Luzon’s Bicol Region is our work with whale sharks and coastal resource management in Donsol.

On the 7th of April, I received a text message from an old acquaintance in the Bicol Region, asking if he could call me. I was busy catching up with work backlogs, and asked that he call back the next morning. He said he would.

To Replevin or not to Replevin
by Ruel Pine
Writ of replevin. Ex parte manifestation. Plaintiff. Defendants. Civil case 10xxx. Surety bond.
I wasn’t sure if I understood the document so I dropped the 2-page court order, together with all its encyclopedic attachments, and sighed. I don’t speak the language. I realized how much I missed advance biochemistry where I learned that the chemical name of diazinon is O,O-Diethyl O-(2-isoproppyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidinyl) phosphorothioate and that cytochrome enzymes i.e. P450 detoxify this organophosphate to 2-isopropyl-4-methyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine.
