Leatherback Turtle Caught in Fishing Nets

Leatherback turtle was caught in fishing nets in Alcoy, Cebu. The fishermen disentangled the turtle and set it free.

An Ailing Planet

No one can say exactly what it looks like when a planet takes ill, but it probably looks a lot like Earth.

Not for the birds...

A farmer spraying pesticide on rice crops in Candaba Swamp... where thousands of migratory birds converge on their way south...
Apropos, the IHT reports on vultures in India facing extinction by doing what vultures do, clean the carcasses of dead animals. Only in this case, they are feeding on the carcasses of sick cows that were treated with a drug widely used on cattle but fatal for the vultures.
